Yo guys, (NOW the reply button shows up! Grin Wasn't there for me before! Cheesy)
dBeav, your ground crew said your plane would be ready shortly......they had to
do some extra work on it since it's been sitting so long! Cheesy
dBeav, do you know what a difference it makes to fly 5 of us instead of 4?
Great!  And your even better than me at showing up prepared to fly! LOL!

I wont be able to post my guncam until some time after I get home. It's raw size
was 884MB! I didn't have time to 'squeeze' it this morning. Cry

Yo guys, I know it would be better to designate positions before-hand, but I think we were all
just itching to get in the air! Cheesy We'll make sure we are tight next time. But one thing I have found,
that against AI, we will have a better battle when we merge individually, but keep turning toward eachother
and lead bandits to help. That way we stay in the same area. I didn't get many kills last night, but several times was able to 'spray' bandits away from others, and many, many times, someone got them off of me. Cool

We also had some anomilies last night with trees........and bomb blasts. My favored ground-pound technique for accuracy with bombs is to be high over the target, dive straight down, release, and roll-pull out. Last night, I was doing this from 5000 feet. Dive for 1000 and release, and maybe another 1000 when I start my pull-up. So the closest I was to the ground (When I did it right) was 3000 feet. The blast still
took out my ailerons, although I heard nothing or felt anything. Huh
Also strange, is when I use these G folders offline. All the flyby planes have different guns offline. Mine has what seems like spitVc guns. (Cannons that run out real fast, then what seems like 2 50's.
But, we all seemed to have 4 50's last night, like we should. (Or is it six? Felt like 4..... Shocked)

Yo dBeav, glad to fly with you anytime! Grin

Hey Guys,

Last night was one of the best, if not the best sessions that we have had in over two years. I was surprised as hell when Beav showed up! It has been one hell of a long time since I have flown with Beav. It was good to see him; it was great to fly with him. Perhaps we should customize one of the vacant slots for him? Grin

The technical aspects went very smoothly. No one seemed to have any serious difficulties. I had one crash that occurred between flights. Spitty seemed to lose contact towards the end of the last session. I seem to have heard two people complain about garbled / green cockpits. Does anyone have any information about that? If it is a frequent occurrence, we can try to look into it. Smiley

I will now proceed to beat the dead horse. I know that Beav has very little free time on Wednesday evenings. If you want to get a session going, just post your free time on the forum and you will probably get a response. The earlier the better!  ::)When I looked in on the site this morning, I found a couple of postings from last night after we started the session. I make it a practice to look in the forum just before the starting time. I usually don’t look in after we get started. When I looked at the time the forum listed, I saw that it was an hour different than my time (EST). The time can be adjusted for whatever time that you wish to display. Profile / Modify profile / Look & layout preferences! Do we all want to switch to GMT? Undecided

I am getting familiar with the new forum service, as a user and as an administrator / moderator. I think that we can finalize the transition in about a week.
It seems odd to look at the members list and not have to delete any intruders. Angry

Ah yes, the garbled green pit!
This was the first time I ever had it. Don't know why. Maybe loading the F1 folder first?
I might show it in the guncam, but because I had it, I tried to use the front, no-pit view.

Jack, we might need to re-do the G-BritFlyby folder to include dBeav, and possibly fix some anomalies.
In both my G folders, (BritflybyJACKB17, and the Britflyby) my plane is blue on one side, yellow on the other. Maybe I should just exchange the files with my individual-plane folder? I also have these lines
that make a cross in my pit, but I believe Dumo and I replaced the pit file with a regular 51D pit in our original, individual plane skin........will have to check when I get home. Wink
Should be able to fix my own plane, but will need some help with the B-17 Yankee Lady. I have wing-view
and prop problems:

Does anyone else get this?
Thanks,
Roller

I get the same thing with the B-17. It didn't seem to do that before. I will have to look in on it.
I will look into the tail problem. Spitty has the same thing. I probable switched the tails between the two of you Roll Eyes

Yo Jack, that's cool.........(I think it might be Higgys, as it has an H on it, instead of a T.)

Yea, I get that same B-17 wing view offline also, so it might just be a 3dz file.

I had the cockpit problem too. It was fine on the first take off that we aborted. After that I had a hard time really doing much damage in the air as I had a large rectangle in front of me that I couldn't see thru. If it weren't for that I may have shot down everything I saw. At least that's the excuse I'm gonna use.
Smiley
It was great getting in the air with you guys. I'm gonna see if I can set some time aside for more of this but as Jack said, wednesdays will be few and far between.

I will critique last night’s session. I didn’t put F 1(EAWrp2.6) into my Autoscript. The reason that I didn’t was that Knegel had put most if not all of those flight files into the Flyby Mod that he redid it. When Dumo said that he loaded that folder before the Autoscript, I went back and did the same. I didn’t want to have compatibility problems. I don’t think that there would be a difference but I wanted to make sure. Sometime, I would like to test it out.

The Autoscript didn’t seem to cause any problems. I didn’t intend for it to be used all night long. One or two flights would have been plenty. Roller is the person scheduled as next weeks Autoscript provider. I have to move the calendar from the old forum to this forum. Roller seems to think that dive bombing is the most effective method. After last night, I think that he may be right. I level bombed at 2000 ft and broke right. The bomb blast got me! I think that 3000 ft separation might be the safe distance. Dropping the bomb at 4000 ft probably gives you that. After the first couple of starts, we stopped using an assigned position formation. I think that we should make it a regular step to assign roles by the number system.

As usual, I learned something. First, we didn’t perform our ground attack very well.  Second, it seems that our four planes rate as four formations or squadrons and the AI Germans badly out number us. All in all, it was a very interesting session. I usually break off at 10PM EST. I stayed later because of Beav’s appearance on the scene.

I too, was using the F 1, but in looking, also noticed that the flight files for the german planes was in there, which I believe, is the reason we wanted to load the F 1.  Grin
So I would agree, that the F 1 probably is not necessary.

Normally, the blast radius is not so big.......at least not as big as it was last night! Shocked
For me, it has not been normal to get damage from 3000 feet away!

I think we did right on our ground attack, and that the damage radius was somehow different last night. I could be wrong thou.... Wink
However, all of those vehicles on the road on both sides of the bridge, were added for extra targets, but they do not move, nor do they fire at you, and you could not target them. Would have been more interesting if they fired back..... Grin

The amount of enemy didn't bother me........there were five of us, and if using ammo judiciously, we can take out the majority.......I would have a problem if they were human!
But as AI, even 3 on your ass are hard pressed to get you if you just keep jinking. Cool
Geez, gotta go...........later,
Roller

Keep 'Em Flying

« Reply #11 on: December 07, 2006, 03:11:59 PM »

Hello gentlemen...

Well last night was very frustrating for me.  I flew good but I seemed to be killed by:
1st -- too tall bridge?  I was killed at 1000ft BEFORE my bombs hit.
2nd -- too tall trees?  I was killed by a very tall tree while I was over 500ft from ground.
3rd -- bomb blast.  This one was acurate.

I was booted off the connection at the end then I could not re-join TS.  I was in a thunder storm so I think that was the issue there.

I posted a new film clip and you can see that the flickering problem still exists.  I'll continue to trouble shoot this problem.  Also, the focus was not there in the clip but it is clear in MY saved copy.  Wierd.

It was good to see dbeav again flying with us.  Brought back old memories.  As for flight times for me.  The weekends are hit or miss.  Sometimes I work days / sometimes nights.  During the week though, Tuesday night / Wednesday all day is good for me.  Monday nights sometimes as well as Thursday nights.  We can put together a couple of flight days so all can join in since we basically fly almost every Tuesday night with Roller, Dumo, and myself.  I agree with Roller that dbeav's plane should be put back into rotation on the flyby mod.

The B-17 problem I get as well with my side views out of the cockpit.  Wings funky and the props not very good.

That's about it.  I'll post another film clip later this week of our flight last night.

I E-mailed the correction for Rollers blue tail problem to everybody. Let me know if you don't get it. I checked Spitty's plane and it looks OK. The B-17 will rquire a little bit more work than Rollers tail. Cheesy
