Hey Guys,

I have a few things that I want to work on. I will handle them in different postings.

The first is the Yankee Lady Flyable B-17. I was very happy that I was able to work out the problems with the cockpit views. Both Pobs and I were able to get coherent wing views. The approach that he used meant that the propeller problem could not be corrected without massive rework. The approach that I used allowed it to be corrected easily. That made me feel real good. I consider Pobs to be one of the big boys and far above me in talents. It’s nice to get a hit off an all star.

The next item was a strikeout. I am talking about the color problem with the antenna and rear gunner window on the Yankee Lady. I had the problem but it disappeared, just like the green noses. I can’t experement and work out a solution.I will have to go by your reports.

Last night, Dumo told me his flaw showed as yellow. I think that Roller said his was red and Spitty said his was mauve. I have some requests to make of you. The flyable B-17 is in the p38j slot. It can be viewed in the VIEW OBJECTS selection in the main screen. Check it out and make sure the problem shows up there. There is a Yankee Lady skin for the regular B-17. If you don’t have it on your system, you can download it from the 352 G-Mail site. Check that out. The Flyable Yankee Lady was made from that skin. If you still get that error download tis skin from Chompy’s site. This is the skin that I started with.
http://www.sandbaggereaw.com/chompy/HRB17G96thBG.zip
Check that one out also.

From the results that you get, I should be able to come up with a fix for the problem.

Hello Jack..

Last night my Yankee Lady rear gunner color was a deep red but usually it is a bright red as is the antena wires too.

I went into the View Objects tab like instructed and the Yankee Lady does not show up with these unusual colors here.  It looks good.

So looks like maybe a on-line bug maybe?

Good luck.

Hello Spitty,

Maybe it's related with conflicting files with the original stock B-17....
Have you try to made a single mission escort or intercept the original B-17 with "Yankee Lady"..loaded.
The original B-17 (B-17 slot) is completely screwed.....

But

Seem's not be related...when you read this Jack report...

Hello,

As Spitty made...I check the "Yankee Lady" with the build in aircrafts viewer.
All good...AC show like he must be.
At least for me..it's not a "only ONLINE prob" as the colored parts are also visible in OFFLINE game.

PLEASE....SURF SAFE....
Military regards.

Hello Jack,

The skin for B-17 slot (Yankee Lady) downloaded from your store give the same oddities with colours....
So it's not the swap slot who give probs for me but the model itself.....

PLEASE....SURF SAFE....

Military regards.

Hello Jack,

Just tested the original Chompy skin..from where the job to go "Yankee Lady" was made.
The B-17 (code R-AW) give me no problems at all.
All colours good.

PLEASE....SURF SAFE....

Military regards.

Hello Jack,

I made a other test-investigation!!
Using Mogswap...I swapped the chompy B-17 in the P38J slot..and fly a fighter sweep....P51D and P38J (B-17 non flyiable loaded)
The B-17 was good ..no bad colours....
So..seem's the prob must came fromcockpit or wings view files.....

PLEASE....SURF SAFE....

Military regards.

Hello Jack,

A last remark.....(maybe it's willhelp)
Surely you noticed...the original flyiable B-17 (green and brown camo)...have not the two aerials....and it work great as flyiable in the P38J slot (for what he was designed)

The flyiable B-17 (CB)

This is what I have come up with concerning the color problem.

The problem is that the rear gunner window and the antenna show up as a bright color red or yellow.
The problem does not show up at all on Jack’s system.

Roller has not tested at this time.
Spitty tested with VIEW OBJECTS and had no problem

Dumo tested VIEW OBJECTS and had no problem.
Dumo tested the Flying Lady (P-38j slot) and the regular B-17 with Lady skin in an off-line game condition and both versions showed the problem.
Dumo tested the original Chompy skin and it had no problem.

Is it possible to have these tests done with nothing else being loaded.

The results so far seem to indicate that the problem is in the original skin conversion. The problem also may be concerned with transparency. The rear gunners window should probably be transparent..

Thanks for the reports so far!

I have worked following my instinct that the rear gunners windows should be transparent. I have found the reason for this and corrected it. Since I do not show the symptoms of the problem, I cannot test the change to see if it cures the problem. I need a volunteer to test it.

I don’t know if this advice is necessary but when doing substitutions like this it is always a good idea to copy the folder that you will be working in so that if anything goes wrong, you have a good folder to go back to

BINGO.... problem solved (at least on my side)
So it will be interesting to others to test it ASAP (but sure the result will be good).
Thanks.
So...still few flight models to solve..as the names...and it will be perfect.
