Dumo, help!
« on: July 01, 2007, 07:27:13 AM »
Yo Dumo,
maybe you can help me..........had my water working great:

But now, without me making ANY changes, it has gone back:

All I did was install some paints and a couple new planes. Would that make the water not
work?
I also get this load screen:

When I was having a blur problem with EAW, I turned on the vertical sync on my card, but
when I ran fs9, the sim would lock up as soon as you entered the cockpit for a flight. When I
turned the vertical sync OFF, fs9 would run again, but that load-screen changed to the pic
above, but ran fine, with nice water. Without any other changes, the "water" disappeared
yesterday, and no changes or adjustments bring it back. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Roller
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT: Don't know why, but pics are not working on the page. Url's are correct, and
are correct. All I can do is post the links, and paste them in your browser.

Hello Roller,

The loading screen tellme it's coming from the antialiasing setting to high...!
I'm sure you have also a black space for the preview screen of the plane in the choice plane window :)
Please check again my pics of my graphic card settings.
I use Antialiasing on pos "4" for EAW but I use a lowest for FS2004 .....
But the black screens are not a real problem ..as with antialiasing pos "4" the graphics in the game must be better ..but also this must maybe hurt the performances ( FPS slightly down ..please test with pos "4" and a lowest for seen if any differences on YOUR system!)
For the sea effect:
The install of new planes have NO EFFECT on the rendering of the sea..terrain ..etc....
Be sure to check if your ingame settings for the rendering ground or sea are still the same as before.
Waiting more from you about.

PLEASE....SURF SAFE....
Military regards.

Hi Dumo,
the loading screen is bad, but not the screen for the plane choice.
My card is set to 2Q for the antialiasing. The load screen stays bad on any antialiasing setting.
My water setting is high, and none of the other settings are changed. And the water effect changed
without me changing anything. I flew yesterday morning,,,,,water was fine. With no changes, I flew yesterday afternoon, water effect was gone. ???

Hello Roller,

Yes ...this seem's to be come insane lol.
I read few others  threads like yours in other forums with ppl's struggling with problems like for days (it was good yesterday and now I have the problem of ...etc...)
If you are SURE it's nothing CHANGED in your game or in your graphics SETTINGS .... you will come to the conclusion... it's a hardware problem !!!
The effect of water ..lights etc ..came from a function of the graphic card ...
It's named shaders if I remember well.....
Shaders rendering is classified as 1 or 2 or ..etc ..depending of the quality of the cards.
If this function fail on your card ..all the rest run good anyways ..but the shaders effect is no more rended.
I know at least one ppl whohave  no more pos to use the antialiasing from his card ..but all the rest of functions was perfect !!!
His card was deffect !
So try again but if it's not work at all and YOU SURE (again) it's NO CHANGES inyour settings ... you will be better to return the card !
BTW my first MSI TI 4600 stopworking after 3 months ..!!!
I return it back ..the shop give me a same new ...and this work from4 years without glitches !
Who knows ???
Keep me updated....

Yo Dumo,
clicked the "restore" button on the video card settings:

Then I set antialiasing to off, but set the rest to the settings you gave me.
I now have my water back AND the load screen are back to normal:

Roller

ps: with the forum image tag, my images display as red-x's. Without the tag, and just the image
url in the message, there is still no image, just an active link. I see in your post with the strange
island, that your images have the img tag, and display the image. For me, just putting the img tag
shows a red X.

edit again: Alright, used the 'img' tag url from the photobucket site, and the image displays. Very
strange the tag from the forum does not work ???

Yo Dumo,
don't know why it makes a difference, but it turns out my main culprit for taking away
my water texture is VOZ!
Have only used the North section to VOZ, so far, because I like all the green. And the
water DID work with it before, but now, textures VOZed= no water. UnVOZed= Water.
This has shown itself consistent with repeated VOZing and un-VOZing.
I'm gonna try it now, VOZing with a different section.

Hi,
VOZ appears to use a different water texture, more colorful, and has a slight reflective
quality, (You can still see the cloud reflections in the water.) but all water surfaces appear
flat, but looks like your looking at the tile paintjob thru a clear film, and does not do the water
animation. Without VOZ, I get the animated water, very reflective. ;D Shit.......I like my VOZ...
but I love the water...........

Hello Roller,

So I will sleeping well again :)
Anyways ...put your antialiasing how it was before... you must use it !! for avoid the steps on the edges.
Other things.... I seen you use the 800 X 600 definition in the game.
As you have enough memory on your graphic card I will suggest you to use a superior definition ...like 1024 X 768  32 (I use it with no probs with only 128MB graphic card memory)
The edges will be better...

PLEASE....SURF SAFE....

Yo Dumo,
when I turned aliasing back to 2Q, it messed up the load screen again. (But water was fine!)
But when I changed the resolution back to 1024x768, the load screen was good again, and
the jaggies and edges and shimmering are much, much better! ;D:

Hello,

Great....
BTW ... in the second picture your water effect is amazing ... :)
I dream to have this ...but it's just a dream ...as my graphic card is limited in the shaders rendering :)

This is the only best effect I'mable to see ...in pratically same condition of you ....

Hmmm.....looks pretty good to me! ;D
I see, like me, you get those color transition lines when flying dawn/dusk.
Mine can be thick sometimes, and look very weird, but if you keep flying for awhile
the transition to day is complete.
My water is very attractive in the dawn/dusk lighting thou.....so I fly in it alot.
Just wish the water-animation was more random, instead of all water wave-up, all water wave-down.
