Hmmm, I didn't think the Host modified the players eaw.ini, maybe it does for weather/seasons.

I'm not too familer with v1.50 or any of the source modified games, especially multiplayer. maybe they did make it so the game trys to modifiy each players eaw.exe.

According to VBH. Theres a join order for people on different Windows OS versions. I think by now everyone uses at least the latest DirectX version per there system (9.x for older windows) But there seems to be some sort of DirectPlay issues with host and joining players. Its all seems very complicated to me. Not sure if Microsoft will get DPLAY sorted out for older games or not. Since 2008 ists been deprecated.

When I say its complicated it seems to be all a hit and miss type of thing, by who can join and who can host. IDK. Without definate answers I couldn't begin to figure it out.

Hello Mark,

This is a simple description of the problem. I was able to join with Jelly. I was not able to join with the other 352ers. I was able to host with the other 352ers.

Simple analysis, I had a good working EAW install and the others had flawed EAW installs. Simple solution, I hosted. No more compatibility problems!

Possible alternative analysis, my INI file is compatible with Jelly’s and no changes are attempted on my INI and there are no rejections or incompatibilities.
When I try to join 352 hosts, they attempt to modify my INI and my system rejects the attempt. Result, I am tossed out of the EAW joining process.

Possible better solution! I find out what is blocking the INI modifying process and allow the process to take place. Find out what different in the INI’s and make them compatible.

I think that one or both of the better solutions would allow all of the 352 flyers to host/join without problems.

The better solutions require patient cooperative testing work by two or more players and that is not all that easy to arrange.

There is no guarantee that I have correctly analyzed the problem or that my suggested solutions would work. We never tried to do it.

Hey Jack,

I understand part of what your saying. Did you want me to edit my older posts? (I'm not sure I can, but I will if thats what you meant)

Let me just add this:
As far as the difficulty settings in the INI (or set within game), the Host settings override what each player has set until the game is over with.

    Hello Mark,

The situation that I am referring to is that we really did nothing to analyze or correct a situation that was causing problems. We had found a way to avoid that situation and left it there. After a period of time, we find that we forget what the details of the problem and the evade solution were. The next time that we encounter the situation or a similar situation, we start all over again. It is like deferring needed maintenance. After that process goes on for a while minor problems become major ones requiring major corrective measures.
When I glanced at the old posting, the thought came to me that perhaps the incompatibility was being caused by INI differences. I don’t think that we ever looked into that. Basically, it is always a good idea to periodically go back and clean up and make necessary corrections.

A lot of this stuff has come up before and we never got together and gave it any systematic trouble shooting

Hey Beave,

Lets see if this is going to work. I told you to try bearing 120, it obviously should have been 180

pictures of the Air fields are at the beginning of this post

Mostly just starting this thread to store any info I come up with.
Unable to run OAW. After convincing virus programs that it was ok, I'm now unable to install the runtime files. Windows will not even try.

Well I think I have my ini issues all set (or at least close enough) so I will be on later.

And just an FYI, when using the 150 downloaded from here you no longer have to have the CD in.
