I take it you haven't had time or you figured your problem out?

This morning I was debating on whether I should try to walk the hiking trail in the heat or go to the gym and swim. I decided to go for walking. It was a good choice because I was able to get a good perspective concerning my situation with being squeezed out of Teamspeak. When I swim, I concentrate on what I am doing with my body, when I walk my body is sort of on automatic pilot and I am free to think about a lot of things. I plan to get rid of the old computer and that is the end of using IDE drives. Both of the Dell machines use SATA drives. I have a device that will clone my present physical ‘C’ Drive and give me a copy that will work perfectly the same when I hook it up. I can take and do all of the upgrading sort of thing and if I blow it all up, I just go back to the original drive. I can do this over and over. No reason to worry or fret. SO!!!  I will consider doing a lot of things because I will be able to recover from almost any mistakes or glitches. Halleluiah Lord! I will walk the golden street on my two smelly golden feet.

I was sweating like hell when I got home from walking. I will do my aerobics by swimming until the heat spell passes.

I will wait until I get my RAM modules and when I get them in OK, I will see about getting the video card working and then I might look into trying to see about Windows 7. I don’t like the idea of being squeezed out by Teamspeak.

Here are 3 pictures of dBeave and I taken in Michigan about 10 years ago. DBeave is in red and I am in blue. Take a good look at that nice round well-nourished belly or gut on me. A lot of forkfuls of food were consumed to create that portion of my physique.

I know TS worked on my Vista set up before my hard drive crash about 9 months ago.

Because of my low FPS problems, I took the Optiplex 755 out of the closet and started to check it out. It only has 2 card slots and one of them is filled with a video card which doesn’t seem to work so I am connected to the on-board video. Surprise – Surprise all of the non-EAW1.2 installs work just fine on the on-board video. I installed the windower from my Dimension and EAW1.2 works with a FPS of 45 and the other EAW installs are at 60FPS, VERY-Very GOOD!!  This Comp, has the low level card and I got a video card and driver for it when I tried a new video card and drivers on the other system. I seem to remember that I connected to that installed card when I first got the system and it seemed to work but I was not able to get it to play EAW. I probably tested it with EAW1.2 and I may have tried to upgrade the drivers and fouled it up. I have now downloaded what should be the correct drivers and I will try to get that one working. If that fails, I will try the one that I got from E-Bay, The other thing is that it has 4 RAM slots, it has 2 1g-byte cards installed for 2 Gigs of RAM. I ordered 4 new 2g-byte cards and that will give 8 Gigs of memory.
I intend to retire the old Asus machine and use the Dimension for general work and use the Interplex for EAW flying.

I was trying to install Teamspeak on my laptop and see if I can use that to communicate on flight sessions. The Teamspeak client crashes as soon as you try to use it. As far as I can see, it is no longer possible to use Teamspeak on a XP system. I don’t know yet if I can get it to work on a 32bit Vista system.. As things are now shaping up, I will have good flying capacity with the Interplex system but I may not continue to be involved with the 352FG if I can’t solve the Teamspeak problem.

I am glad to see that friend Spitty is getting involved again, That is all the more reason to get a fully working setup.

Hey Spitty,

Where are you DL your game from and version?

Where do you un zipp it to, like folder location?

What anti virus are you using?

Have you checked if its hidden in the same location, by checking show hidden files in folder options of windows7?

Is it in your virus vult or recycle bin.

It doesn't make too much sense this happens even when you have not gone online.
Perhaps the anitvirus needs to execulude the whole eaw folder rather than just the eaw.exe.

Perhaps the download you got is infected or corrupted.

I'm guessing at this point, id know more when you provide more info.

Quick test of TS - I'm able to connect to dBeav's site.

Jack - I do not have your server info.

Afternoon all -

Sorry for the long absence.  Lot's of work on top of lots of work.

Well - from the EAW Front - every time I download the game then fly a mission or missions off line in the same setting - shut the game down - turn my computer off - the entire game is nowhere to be found when I try to fly it again no matter the next hour or day or 1 week later.  It's just gone.

I've been really frustrated with this.  I have not asked for help anywhere (ie Sim-HQ) as I would hope to try and figure this glitch out myself but...  I am probably going to jump into the cesspool of Sim-HQ to see if someone has had the same issues (I read a while back that someone did in fact) and if there is a solution yada yada.

I can tell you it's frustrating to say the least.  This is part of the reason I have not been around as when I get a chance to join a session usually I get home right about the time you are already flying or toward the end of a flying session and I don't want to spend 20-30 minutes trying to download + set up the game every time just to loose it as soon as I shut her down.  I do have a copy of my ini file so when I do download the game each time I can drop that in so my controls are already set which at least makes it a bit quicker.

Unfortunately I do not remember how to point Game Ranger to the file so I can play on line so if I can get the game to "Stay Put" I'd only have to do this once.

I do have Team Speak Version 3.1.8 installed but have not been able to test it out with anyone (cause I work too much)...  Plus I do not have anyone's current server info (IP Address+Password) to join anyways.

Basically it's like starting from zero.  Let me know your thoughts about my challenge and maybe you might know a solution - especially before I drop this in Sim-HQ.  I'm not a big fan of that site.

Here's my system info if needed:

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
Processor:  Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHZ
Graphics Card:  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
RAM:  3.00 GB
64-Bit OS

Hey Guys, Silver linings and that kind of stuff.

I have stumbled across a very nice piece of good luck. It all deals with the problems of running with XP as my main operating system and this sort of seeps into all of my computer operations. This will probably take awhile to present it all but I will take my time and try to lay it all out clearly.
As of this weekend I have 3 computers in my house. The main one is a Dell Dimension 8400. This is the one that I have been having Low Frame Rate problems with. I got this from my #2 son who was replacing it with a new one. It turned out that it needed a new battery in the motherboard and after that it was sort of pretty good. The next one was a sort of ‘One Horse Shay’ kind of deal. I bought the original system just about 20 years ago and I never threw it all out at one particular time. I used to get a new motherboard and keep the case and power supply and drives and all the accessories. I ended up with the ‘C’ Drive on a Caddy system and that gave me a lot of flexibility. The last motherboard was an ASSUS and that is what it goes by. It is really quite out of date. They are both using Win XP as the operating system. Some years ago my kids gave me a laptop as a gift. I came with Vista OS and I never really was fond of it. The 2 desktops are cabled to my router and the laptop can connect with Wifi. I have the three of them on a network. Some time ago I was afraid that the hard drive in the Dell Dimension was starting to fail and I bought a Dell Optiplex 755 on E-Bay for a very low price. I solved the problem with the Dell Dimension and the Optiplex would not run EAW so I put the Optiplex in the closet. I will continue this account tomorrow.
